Help talk:AIC-CC User Guidelines
Copyright[edit source]
I would propose to clarify questions about copyright protection by suggesting the site adopt Commons Attribution 4.0 International License except where otherwise noted. --Ev-knight (talk) 17:04, 27 August 2014 (CDT)
Purpose of the page[edit source]
There is a lot of overlap between the Wiki Editors Resources and the AIC CC User Guidelines. Rather than merging them, I would suggest clarifying purpose. The former could have nuts and bolts for *editors*: formatting, style, appearance, templates. The later would be more general for *users*: background, software, community of users, levels of access and updates, etc.--Kkelly (talk) 11:19, 22 September 2014 (CDT)
We should find a way to indicate that as of 2019, the BPG Wiki pages have a much more liberal editing policy than the formal process outlined here. --Kkelly (talk) 15:09, 18 December 2019 (CST)
Updating old terms[edit source]
Terms like "chapter" and "catalog" should be updated to reflect past work, but "pages" should generally be used instead as a term --Sandrine Blais (talk) 15:07, 31 December 2025 (UTC)

Semantic update[edit source]
I was hoping to add semantic updates tags to this page and the [Wiki Editor Resources page, but I'm not sure what Topic/Group/etc. these over-arching guidelines pages would fall under? Also, do we have an actual how-to wiki page for tagging with the semantic update? --Sandrine Blais (talk) 19:49, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
Deleted section about "locking" pages from the "Editing Catalog Entries" section[edit source]
This is a section of text that I removed from the main page: "After this, pages may be modified or added to by users with editing permissions. If at some point the editorial board deems a page to be complete, the entry may be locked and no additional changes will be made, until a user with administrator permission opens the entry. Pages on information with need of constant update, as for example of a catalog of the Electronic Materials Group (EMG) may need to be frequently added to and may not be closed for additions at any point." I personally disagree with the idea that a page will ever be "done", and I would not advise locking them in general. I think the main BPG landing page has some permissions changed on it to prevent all wiki users to be able to modify it (?), but otherwise this idea goes against the point of the Wiki in my opinion. --Sandrine Blais (talk) 20:02, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
