Hendrik Hameeuw is specialist in advanced imaging of heritage at the Digitisation Department of KU Leuven Libraries and is affiliated as a voluntary research fellow with the research unit Ancient History (KU Leuven). He obtained MA’s in Assyriology and Archaeology at the KU Leuven and a doctorate degree at UGent with a thesis on the use of interactive imaging technologies for archaeology. Hendrik has since the start been involved in the development of the (multispectral) multi-light reflectance (MLR) Portable Light Dome system. This system, narrow-band multispectral imaging (MSI), 3D modeling and other photographic techniques he applies for the digitisation and non-invasive documentation of heritage objects, in support to research, conservation and scientific outreach. Hendrik conducted archaeological and imaging missions in Europe, U.S., Egypt and Turkey (sites, artefacts, rock art). He coordinates/participates in projects that develop new acquisition and processing methods with multi-light/spectra systems and new strategies towards sustainable consultation platforms for interactive MLR and MSI. He has published on a variety of topics: cuneiform studies, glyptic studies, archaeology, advanced imaging, digital documentation for conservation, tangible and AR museum applications.
