Mold removed from paper with clear tape and examined under a microscope (40 x transmitted light). Overall Appearance: Mold is apparent on the recto as localized maroon-colored colonies and broader patches of brownish-grey growth. Under ultraviolet illumination, these areas fluoresce, or appear in a bright whitish-yellowish-orange snowflake pattern. This indicates the presence of lipids that are a component of conidia, as well as the circular growth pattern. Light Microscopy: Range of conidia – plentiful, abundant. Some conidiophore vesicles, as well as hyphae or noded reproductive structures that are pigmented a dark reddish color. Conidia are globose and appear yellowish-green in transmitted light.
