Mold removed from paper with clear tape and examined under a microscope (40 x slightly crossed polars). Overall Appearance: Mold has visible affected the back of this work. On the reverse, the mold forms appear as darkly-pigmented masses, organized in circular colonies. Macroscopic Appearance: Closer magnification reveals aerial fungal structures. Light Microscopy: Sample composed mainly of pale greenish conidia along with some birefringent (bright under crossed polars) particles. Some conidiophore structures – such as foot cell, vesicles, sterigmata – are apparent, perhaps indicating a species of aspergillus. Photo by Ann Baldwin, 2008.
