XRF spectra of the Dmax (red, area of maximum density) and Dmin (blue, area of minimum density) areas on a gelatin silver DOP that has been toned with Kodak selenium toner. This shows some common components of these prints including barium, strontium, silver, sulfur, calcium, etc, plus the presence of selenium. Note that the peaks for rhodium, palladium, copper and zinc are from the instrument. Instrument settings: Bruker Tracer III-SD XRF, 40keV, 12 µa, 300 seconds analysis time, Cu/Ti/Al filter. Image credit: Jennifer McGlinchey Sexton and Paul Messier.
