Talk:Draft page V.C. Fiber analysis

Began drafting the new catalog section V.C Fiber identification, coding text from Kathy Francis, by way of Issac Facio. Changed numbered and lettered lists to bulleted lists in several places, for visual clarity. Used larger font to improve readability. I'd suggest NOT using the <big> tag for body text. This is mentioned in the Style Guide. The text in most browsers can be adjusted easily by the user, and if we ever switch to a different CSS stylesheet it could make things look really weird if the <big> tag is interpreted in a different way. The vast majority of other pages on the wiki do not use the <big> tag for body text. Also, another suggestion is to not use numbers in your headers - the wiki table of contents automatically puts in numbers for sections, based on the headers used, and if you had numbers in the text of the header itself, it looks confusing, such as in: " 3.2 2) For preparing fiber cross sections the following may also be needed:". Yes, I was waffling about whether the <big> was a good idea or not. I've hesitated to strip out ALL the numbers, in deference to the possible expectations of the authors and earlier editors of this content. If I bite the bullet and remove them all, it will probably aid visibility at least as much as I was trying to do with <big>! Thanks for the input. --Jcruise (talk) 12:07, 1 September 2014 (CDT)
