Summarizes the authors thesis research project examining 94 pebbled granular surfaced animal skin bindings to distinguish microscopically and microscopically between leather, parchment, or hybrid preparations. These are generally horse, mule, donkey, or goat skins prepared to resemble shark skin. ADDED
