Template for new Chapter

BPG Template

In 2017, the Book and Paper Group Wiki Coordinators developed a Template for New BPG Chapter to guide them as they reformatted existing chapters and created new ones. Some of the differences with the PMG model below are the use of the auto-generated table of contents, the addition of a horizontal rule below level 2 headers, and the addition of a "History of This Chapter" section to acknowledge the long history of many of our chapters.

Template to Copy

In the Specialty Group page, write between two square brackets the name of the chapter.

Copy the text below and paste it to the blank page. Change the fields that now refer to a Photographic Materials Group entry to the Specialty Group you want to edit. The example presented is from the PMG Exhibits Chapter.

Categories

Each page can be associated to one or more categories. Categories enable pages to be added to automatic listings, which allows creating a structure by grouping pages on similar subjects. A list of categories for AIC Conservation Catalog pages can be found here: Special:Categories and here Special:UnusedCategories.

To add a category type the term between two square brackets, preceded by "Category:", for example: [[Category: Storage]].

Signing Edits

Edits on a page may be signed. By adding 2 hyphens and 4 tildes (--~~~~), the date and user name of the entry will be added to the text. Like this: --lcasella 21:45, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

This may be useful for chapters with numerous collaborators, to keep a visible track of change by author, or when adding data to older chapters that have been published and to which there is new relevant data to add.
