Talk:Institutional or Facility-Wide Considerations

From MediaWiki

We need an intro for this page.

Concern: greenhouse gases Reasons- concern for materials degredation from voc’s and fluctuation in RH Standards conservators have set for collections management Choose environmental control systems HVAC&R and others(??) that might produce less waste (require changing filters, less charcoal…)- research different systems???. Conservators must educate museum professionals and private clients about the limits of environmental control- what are the limits and why Target RH and dew point Use heat to lower RH Selective use of cooling and heating Use less energy Foreget ideal RH and Temp- they do not exist Modulate extremes to save on energy bills Dew point is very important Use practical purposes first before installing complicated RH and HVAC systems- such as reduce RH by removing source of liquid water Preservation Metrics Monitor the collection and the environment- collect data using reliable tools

I have edited the Environmental Controls section and I felt it was no longer a 'Draft' so I removed the draft title. There is huge bibliography under the Standards but without links in the text it isn't very useful.--Rosedcull 15:23, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

- Maybe the bibliography could be divided into sections by topic to make it more useful. --Denise Stockman 14:01, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I did see on this page how to insert citations into the text http://www.conservation-wiki.com/index.php?title=Citations#ref1 So I inserted citations for the section I wrote up about Environmental Controls which makes it easier to see where I am getting information from.

A previous discussion on the AIC Wiki e-mail distribution list was about whether these entries should be written from a Neutral Point of View - this is a Wikipedia.org requirement and it was communicated to me that these articles should be written neutrally, but that perhaps this AIC wiki page would be a good place for original, unpublished research, which Wikipedia.org does not currently allow. --Rosedcull 15:22, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

- good point for discussion...personally, in the Environmental Controls section, I feel like I would like to see both the research presented from a neutral point of view and a final recommendation from the committee. Anyone else have an opinion? --Denise Stockman 13:59, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I am curious to know what everyone thinks about the Environmental Controls section and how we would like to proceed with the other sections.--Rosedcull 15:23, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
